To Surfers just starting out,

Let's put it straight, as a surfer with years of surfing experience, my approach to surfing is hard core.  When I hit the water I'm am on point, no nonsense and committed to my surf session at hand.

Q: How exactly do you do this? 

A: Great question!  I do this by working a few hours very early in the morning to catch the East Coasties and the regular 8-5 hour grind during the day!  I answer the phone and field hundreds of questions over the phone, on-line via email and in person.  Remember, I know how important your question is to you!  Because your are asking your question, it is as important to me as it is to you.  Because you have a concern and cannot make the connection with one of my techniques or you have some other reason for asking the question, that is what makes it important to me.

Q: What is it that you do to make the surfers progress so rapidly?  

A: Well, nine years ago I started writing up the all the techniques I use both out in the surf as well as on the beach and at home or in the gym.  I quickly realized that I have so many tips, techniques and strategies for surfing in waves in the 2' to 4' surf range as well as for surfing the larger waves in the 15' to 25' range I could not effectively present them in a logical order. 

For the Just starting out Surfer:

1. Each wave approaching the shore breaks differently than the preceding wave.
2. Each wave is "uniquely different" from all other waves.
3. Apply your "Surf Check" principles 

Barring a rapid swell change or a dramatic tide change, swells that become ridable waves at a surf break have a tendency to break in a similar manner.  So, by making an accurate "Surf Check" provides you what the surfing conditions are at the surf break you are looking at.  Using this information you are able to:

• Figure our what the tide will be doing during your surf session
• What the wind conditions are, wind direction and intensity
• What the swell intensity prediction is for the next 24 hours
• How each of these influence the waves and amount of stand up time you will get!

A good "Surf Check" and knowledgeable surfer will know all of this before he/she paddles out!

This is just a small snippet of the effective strategies to work into your Knowledge Base which builds up to generate surfing success as you progress in experience.  The best part is, you don't need your own surfboard to start to learn the important Knowledge Base a Surfer needs to surf.
