Surf-Connection
is a small locally
run Huntington Beach enterprise which does not have to answer to
the corporate giants of the surfing industry!
We get to make our own rules and offer our locally made
products and services our customers are looking for and need.
Our purpose: To provide a surf
connection for people who surf! We are especially
suited for those learning or thinking about learning how to
surf the waves rolling in to the beaches of the O.C!
"The surfing culture is as diverse as the stars in the
universe. We do not pretend to be all things to all
people. We are a family of surfers who live and enjoy
the surfing lifestyle and the endless pursuit of the perfect
ride!"

ABOUT the Owner
I began surfing in 1970 and began surfing seriously in
1976. In college I was on the men's swim team swimming the
500 yd, 1000 yd and 1650 yd freestyle events and also played on
the men's water polo team. I graduated from the University
of San Diego in 1988 and entered the real estate business world
to support my chemical dependency,(Surfing.)

Swimming
and playing water polo gave me immeasurable courage to surf in
large surf so that is what I sought out to do. I competed
in NSSA, WSA and some local contests with a wide range of
results. At 18 years old, I became a lifeguard, and Water
Safety Instructor and went on and obtained my EMT-I
certification.
My to favorite things to do besides traveling and looking for
waves are making rescues and teaching surfing to eager people who
share the desire to learn how to surf and read the ocean.

6'-4" Swallow-Tail bought by my parents at Carl's Bait &
Tackle in Seal Beach for $35.00
This surfboard was a POS made in some nincompoops backyard.
I did not care I was out in the surf on my own surfboard. The
hot coat on this board was so brittle my friends named it the
"Potato Chip."
